Asians are very religious people especially those
from the Southern part of Asia. These people have a limitless number of gods and
beliefs depending on what region they hail from.
This is mainly in the Southern part of Asia, but
India beats all other Asian countries when it comes to religious beliefs and it
is also estimated that all religions followed in Asia hail from India.
Religions hailing from India are;
- Hinduism
- Buddhism
- Jainism
- Sikhism
It should also be noted that most Asian religious
activities and ceremonies are most of the time carried out in their original
languages, may be to retain the importance therein. Therefore, in one way or
another one learns a language foreign to them because of religion.
This is an advantage in the sense that one may
travel to a foreign country or encounter a person where by the only way for effective
communication is through that language that the former got through religion.
For example, the Sikhism religion is mainly
practiced by the Punjab in India and Pakistan who speak the Punjabi language.
Advantage
of languages spread by religion
This fosters unity in a way. When people belonging
to the same religion are further bound by religion, it gives them a sense of
belonging and pride. This in one way or another fosters development as
believers speaking one tongue try to be recognized as a developmental group.
Religions that have a common language foster peace
generally. This is because most of the religions preach peace and love for
everyone. In fact some Asian religions go further and emphasize peace for all
living creatures too. For example, Buddhism believes that all humans and
animals alike fear pain and mistreatment and therefore calls upon its followers
to be as kind to animals as to humans.
The other reason for this is because Buddhism
believes that human souls either return as humans or as animals. The latter
happens if one was evil in their previous life as a human, therefore mistreatment
of an animal might be mistreatment of a human.
How
to effectively communicate Asian languages
Since ore people around the globe are adapting to
Southern Asian religions, translations of the reading materials and all
literature with information about these religions should be done in as many
foreign languages as possible.
Translation enables effective communication because the
reader is doing so in the language thy understand most.
